Outstanding Corporation/Foundation, Nominated by UNLV Foundation
Wells Fargo Foundation and Wells Fargo Bank Nevada NA are being recognized for their outstanding philanthropic commitment to Nevada’s residents, including their successful endeavors to encourage others to give back to their communities. The premise of corporate social responsibility is central to the vision and values of these partner organizations. Their combined charitable contributions of capital, employee giving, in-kind support and volunteerism have enhanced the quality of life for thousands of residents as well as advanced our state’s economic well-being.
Wells Fargo Bank NA and Wells Fargo Foundation are acutely purposeful in giving to areas where their contributions will make the greatest impact. Four keystone areas of giving are (1) health and human services, (2) civic and environmental, (3) arts and culture, and (4) education (its pinnacle community reinvestment sector). In 2008, Wells Fargo – combined with Wachovia Corporation – donated $2.5 million to non-profit organizations and schools across Nevada. Wells Fargo volunteers invested 27,000 hours of their time with over 300 events and organizations throughout the Silver State. In addition to their scholarship programs, some of the many organizations that have benefited from these philanthropic and volunteer efforts include the Nevada Public Education Foundation, Clark County Reads Program, University of Nevada Las Vegas, Junior Achievement, and Habitat for Humanity.
